Arctic Monkeys Win the Mercury Prize
Arctic Monkeys have just been announced as the winners of 2006 Mercury Prize.
The band got ВЈ20,000 award for their first album “Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not”.
While taking the prize the vocalist Alex Turner quipped: “Somebody call 999, Richard Hawley’s just been robbed!”
The band had been heavy favourites with the bookies leading up to the lavish ceremony at London’s Grovesnor House Hotel.
