Chinese Martial Arts: Hong Kong Stamps

To begin with, it must be said about Year of the Pig Stamps that Hong Kong Post issued recently.

And recently a special stamp issue with the theme of “Chinese Martial Arts” was released in May.

Chinese martial arts attach great importance to both the internal and the external arts. This approach embodies a key element of traditional Chinese culture, where special emphasis is placed on striking a balance between the body and the mind, the hard and the soft elements.

Keep in mind, Chinese martial arts are broadly divided into North and South Schools, each giving the world an impressive array of distinctive styles of martial arts.

Hongkong Post said that associated stamp products are also on sale. By the way, the “Chinese Martial Arts” issue, composed of four stamps featuring “Southern Lion Dance” ($1.40), “Nanquan” (Southern Fist) ($2.40), “Northern Lion Dance” ($3) and “Beitui” (Northern Kicks) ($5), presents a miniature of the versatile Chinese martial arts. A silhouette in gold foil at the bottom of each stamp highlights the martial arts form depicted.

The stamps and the associated philatelic products are already displayed at the General Post Office and Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin Central Post Offices as from the date of release.
