System of a Down and Disturbed to lead Ozzfest 2006

Ozzy Osbourne, System of a Down and Disturbed are going to lead Ozzfest this year. The festival is planned to start on the 1st of July 2006. The first Ozzfest took place in 1996 and since that more than 5 million fans have seen the show. It played 263 concerts featuring 146 bands. All in all there have been 11 Ozzfests so far. This year the concerts is be held in 21 cities. But Ozzy Osbourne will play in 10 selected shows.

Some of the participants of the forthcoming tour are already announced. They are: Hatebreed, Lacuna Coil, Black Label Society, Atreyu, Bleeding Through, Norma Jean, Full Blown Chaos, Between the Buried and Me, A Life One Lost, Strapping Young Led and Red Chord. It is no wonder that System of a Down is going to headline the fest.

The band has been incredibly successful recently! But I’m sure it isn’t the main reason. SOAD’s music is something wonderful! It is impossible to mix it with any other band. Actually nowadays a lot of bands play very similar music and sometimes it’s hard to distinguish one from another. But SOAD is extremely original. The vocals and guitar parts male it stand out in a row of popular nu-metal bands. Moreover in 2005 the band released a double album “Mezmerize/ Hypnotize” and the tour is going to be a great advertisement.

The concerts will be the first Osbourne’s stage performances for the last three years. He will play some tracks from a new album “Prince of Darkness”. Ozzy is working on this solo album with Zakk Wilde at the moment.
