FreeAlert: new type of not-for-profit service

Saturday, 11.08.2007

The concept of FreeAlert.com service is really innovative; at least it applies to me personally as I have never heard of similar one before.

What does it do? It is a charitable organization tat allows you to get (or donate) free stuff in your local area. It works in this way: you go to FreeAlert, register and indicate what type of products you would like to get (or give) for free. Once the company spots any it notifies you with an e-mail or SMS message. You confirm that you will pick it up – and you get it.

If you would like to learn about the story of the service and the people who stand behind it you can find it here. It is a smart idea how to combine not-for-profit activity with the latest Internet technologies. So, you can join the service if you are in need of some items or you know who are in need or you can donate some products if you feel like helping people worldwide.

One of the ways to donate if you are a PC savvy user – just collect those many freebies available/ advertised on the Internet and then donate this stuff through the service.

This is a paid review.

Postage Stamps Identification

Saturday, 04.08.2007

I call of philatelists in www.raster.it and there you will be helped with postage stamps identifying. Whether you can’t depict a stamp or recognize any signature, watermarks on them you will be explained where one or another stamp comes from.

Moreover, you may also visit www.glassinesurfer.com. They identify your stamp, match the printed inscription on the stamp to a term in the inscription lists. Even if you haven’t got a scanned stamp or have the opportunity to show it, you can describe one.

Why do people turn to help? Stamps identification is not always easy, especially for a beginner. Reasons? The name of the country is not always printed in Roman script. The name may be printed in Greek, Cyrillic, Arabic, Indian or Asian script which many of us cannot read. The name can be printed in Roman script, but the language is not English. And it must be said that there are loads of stamps and labels that were printed last century.

It’s not a secret that identifying of stamps demands both experience and knowledge. This branch of science ranks distinguished position amidst collectors amd experts all over the globe.
